RIEDITA – Salone del Mobile 2025

The Achille Castiglioni Foundation presents RIEDITA from 8 to 13 April 2025

Exhibition design and graphics by Marco Marzini

Riedita is a small exhibition to tell the story of the objects and the intense work with companies, thanks to the opening of the Achille Castiglioni archive, preserved in the Achille Castiglioni Foundation, the Ri-Editati projects reawaken the desire to rummage through the archive to discover what will come out… an indomitable curiosity. In short, any excuse is good for creating design culture, seriously but not too much…

In the Prototype Room, the Comodo and Trio furnishing elements – designed by Achille Castiglioni with Giancarlo Pozzi – re-engineered by Karakter, have been modified to be more easily usable in modern homes and to be easily transported.

In the meeting room, Meritalia re-proposes the Lierna chair – designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni – and the Morbio table – designed by Achille Castiglioni. Lierna is a “historical” chair designed in 1960, the Morbio table was designed in the 80s, made only as a prototype and, thanks to Meritalia, it finally goes into production allowing to underline the design characteristics of Achille’s tables.

In the center of the Foundation’s rooms, in the drafting machines room, a series of Castiglioni taps – designed by Achille Castiglioni – is presented for the first time, an object designed by Achille in the early 80s and never put into production. Today, thanks to Mamoli, after having engineered it according to new technologies, it is put into production highlighting the innovative characteristics that Achille had thought of more than fifty years ago.

Finally, in the mirror room, we gave vent to our imagination!

With the support of exceptional craftsmen from the Illulian company, the Taraxacum carpet was created, transforming the technical drawing of the Taraxacum 88 lamp – designed by Achille Castiglioni – into the concreteness of the fabric.

The story of these projects is enriched by the work of the students of the Degree Course in Product Design, Visual Communication and Interiors of the Department of Project Cultures at the IUAV University of Venice who, paying homage to the work of Achille Castiglioni through a survey and study of some of his projects, moved on to the prototyping of these through a path of exploration, analysis and understanding of the materials and their technical and expressive possibilities.
