“Joe Colombo” Exhibition, Salone del Mobile ’96
general outfitting of the “Joe Colombo” exhibition piazzale Italia
fiera MI – salone del mobile ’96
On the occasion of the XXXV edition of the salone del mobile, with its retrospectives dedicated to Achille Castiglioni and Joe Colombo, the Cosmit inaugurates a review of monographic exhibitions about the Italian deisgn masters, appointment that will continue in subsequent years. Under the large hall of the fairgrounds central square, Castiglioni defines the exhibition spaces, a covered ambience around 1200sqm to simultaneously accommodate the two exhibitions. The temporary character of the structure orients the choice towards a light modular system (in aluminum and steel), totally prefabricated and left visible, based on warehouse components and with no fixation to the ground. Set on a raised platform (about 40m), the plugging panels, held in tension by a cable system, internally delimitate the single areas, all attics: the reception (16x5m, 4m high), with waterproof coverage, the two galleries to access the rooms (8x24m, 4m high), the two largest exhibition rooms (18x18m, 6m high) and the two lounges (4m high).
